Sermon Title: The Problem with Complaining

Summary: In this text, Paul shows great concern for the unity of the Philippian believers.  Disunity destroys the work of God and usually begins with a grumbling spirit and with complaining words.  In our text, Paul shows that there are three major problems with complaining: It is toxic to our hearts (our spirits and relationships), it is opposed to our identity (as children of God) and it ruins our witness to the world.  Finally he gives the solution to a complaining spirit, hold out the word of life!  Rather than holding out words of complaint and negativity that kill the spirit of others, we must hold out the word of life.
