Sermon Title: (Part 9) A Heart of Respect

Scripture Basis: 1 Samuel 24-31

Summary: How do we become people after God's own heart?  In this series, we are surveying the book of 1 Samuel to discover the type of heart God desires. In Part 9, we see David in a cat and mouse chase from King Saul.  Though David has ample opportunity to kill the King, he show a heart of respect for God's anointed one.  Respect for authority is foundational to society, but there is vast difference between positional and relational authority.  The true King earns our respect by entering into relationship with us and giving his life for his friends.
